Upended, but Hopeful
Miracles do happen. Nancy finally started to work on Aggie Mundeen Lake Mystery #2. Seems to me she’s going kind of slow, but at least she’s going. I’m back in her head. Decker Savage is in there, too, so it gets crowded. She’s fond of Decker, wants more people to read about him, and thinks about what kind of dilemma he’s apt to face after Risky Pursuit. Her obsession with Decker is slowing her down.
She’s halfway through a draft of my lake mystery, though, so I capture most of her attention. She realizes I’ve changed, as anyone does after barely surviving drowning. Drawn to help others affected by the Lake Placid flood, I stayed in Seguin near the lake, and stumbled into employment at Pecan Paradise as their Activities Director. I get to see people of all ages, so that makes it fun. What’s not fun is that Sam isn’t here. He returned to his San Antonio job as an SAPD Detective. I don’t know how long I’ll stay in Seguin, or how it will affect our relationship.
When I arrived, Andy Carson, beloved nephew of a Pecan Paradise resident, was found unresponsive in a flower bed. He’s hospitalized, condition precarious, and we suspect foul play. His unexpected collapse ignited my propensity to sleuth, but I promised Sam I’d give it up. The game warden helping the chief investigator is extremely good-looking, which skews my judgment.
With the New Year coming, who knows what might happen?
Rattled and waiting,
Aggie
